Our epilogue to Hulk Hogan’s Thunder in Paradise pilot (or first two episodes of the series). We cover some shocking revelations from episode 3 (the first episode after the pilot), give some closing thoughts on the series, and say goodbye to Thunder in Paradise for now. It’s a bittersweet farewell, and you just might see a tear fall from our horrifically jet ski-damaged eyes. But don’t worry, dear listeners, just like a heat-seeking missile that may appear in every episode of this series, we’ve just got this feeling…this feeling that Thunder in Paradise is hot on our tail, a missile headed straight for our hearts. And soon enough, it’ll explode with a whole new crop of action, romance, humor, and brotherhood…an explosion whose gentle heat will warm our joyful hearts, and whose soulful noise will grace your very ears, dear listener, grace them with the soothing rumble of distant thunder. In Paradise?!?

This week, we’re very excited to present our conversation with one of our dream guests, the amazing Kulap Vilaysack. You know her as a podcaster, showrunner, writer, actor, and director, but this week we discuss perhaps her proudest achievement – her time as one of the original and, dare we say, founding employees of Hulk Hogan’s Pastamania. Though no longer in business, Hulk Hogan’s Pastamania is widely considered one of the top 5 Hulk Hogan-themed fast-food pasta restaurants at the Mall of America food court in the mid-90s, and Kulap has the kind of inside information you won’t find anywhere else. We get the inside scoop on Pasta Nuggets, Hulkios, food court beef stroganoff, Daddy’s Deli, and much more.

Friends, our time with Mr. Nanny has come to an end. Those Mason kids, Alex and Kate, they’ve been brought back from the brink. But what about Alex Mason Sr., you might be asking? Well, folks, two things I’ll say about Alex Mason Sr. One, the man got the scare of his life. Folks, what this man went through was nothing short of an ordeal. Purely and simply, it was an ordeal. But folks, as I said mere sentences ago, I had two things (not one thing), two things to say about Alex Mason Sr. The first was the he got the scare of his life, that he went through a true ordeal. But in so doing, in getting the scare of his life, Alex Mason Sr. also got his life back. Alex Mason Sr., in getting the scare of his life, not only kept his life, he learned to live again, to live his life to the fullest. And in my humble opinion, this is all thanks to none other than bodyguard, nanny, and all-around good guy, Sean Armstrong, played masterfully by none other than Terry Gene Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, the famous wrestler.
So now that we’ve finished Mr. Nanny, a very natural question presents itself. To paraphrase Big Joe from No Holds Barred (1989), who asked “who’s next?” you, dear listener may be wondering “what’s next?” Well, dear listener, if you’re wondering “what’s next,” then you may just want sidle up to that play button and give it a tap (or a click). Because “what’s next” is precisely what we’re about to discuss. In fact, one could say that “what’s next” is our discussion of “what’s next,” at least insofar as that first “what’s next” pertains to this current episode of the podcast. So buckle your seatbelts, open your ears, and get ready to listen to “what’s next” in our podcast journey together.

Just a quick, loose episode as we get ready to jump back into our Mr. Nanny coverage. Why, it’s just two ol’ amigos a-chewin’ the fat, catchin’ up on just about all the gossip around town. Why, it’s two compadres a-shootin’ the bull, catchin’ up on just about all the lastest gossip around that proverbial water cooler. Why, it’s two bosom buddies a-gabbin’ like a couple a’ ol’ geese, catchin’ up on just about all the best gossip.
And you, yes you, dear reader, you dear reader just bought yourself a front row seat to it. You just got yourself a front row seat to a couple a’ peas-in-a-pod a-catchin’ up on just about all the juiciest gossip they can get their little hands on. And unlike a literal front row seat, where you’ve got to set yourself a calendar reminder (heck, maybe even two), load the family up in the car, drive out the stadium, pay some damned outrageous fee for parking (you know I’m right), park (you know I’m right), walk to the stadium, hope you don’t waste 3 quarters lookin’ for your seat, then leave 3 quarters in just so you can beat the damn traffic…well, for this proverbial front row seat, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your damn home. That’s right, you won’t have to set a calendar reminder, because this event is on demand and available at the push of a button. That’s right, you won’t have to load anybody up in the car, my friend, because this event comes right to you. That’s right, a stadium, did you say a stadium? For the birds, I say, ‘cause for this front row seat, the stadium is wherever you say it is. That’s right, my friend, ain’t gotta pay no outrageous fee for parking at all, ‘cause you don’t have to drive ANY-where. Park? Nope, ‘cause again, you will NOT have to use your car or ANY car to get yourself to this front row seat. Leave after three quarters? Well, that’s your prerogative, my friend. But hey, my friend, no need, my friend, no need…‘cause certainly no need to beat traffic if you didn’t drive anywhere for your front row seat. And secondly, if you leave after three quarters, you just might miss some of those prize bits of gossip from the gossip brothers themselves. Beat the traffic? For the birds, I say, again and with even greater force….’cause, hey, if you don’t have to drive anywhere to get to that front row seat, exactly what traffic is there to beat?
Now that I think of it, I will relent a bit on this last point, re: beating traffic. A bit of an insider tip here, but if you have to commute to work, one of the best ways to pass the time is listen to a podcast. Makes you drive feel shorter, a bit of a de-stresser if you will. Now, for a commuter, almost by definition the worst thing about their day is that traffic (you know I’m right). Makes your day longer, can even be a bit of what they call a “stresser.” But if you’re listening to a podcast, my friend, well, it can be something I like to call a “de-stresser.” I mean, one could almost say that you’re “overcoming” that source of “stress,” or perhaps even “beating” that stress…and of course, the source of stress being traffic, one could thus argue that when a commuter listens to a podcast, they indeed are “beating traffic.” Game, set, and match.
Enjoy the show!
